Our service supports a total Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) of 3.
This is a measure of the total loading effect that a Customer’s connected phone places on the phone line. This number can typically be found stamped into the bottom of the phone and is usually 1.0 or less per phone.
The total REN load on a phone line is the sum of the REN loads of all devices connected to the line.
*Note that many modern phones have a REN of 0 or 0.1 and cordless systems (that have one base unit that plugs into the phone service with multiple handsets) will only have the REN on the base unit. While Customers who have total REN higher than 3 may work fine, we do not support this configuration.
